Chörlein Museum Showcases — A Tribute to Nürnberg’s Craftsmanship
In every great exhibit, Museum Showcases, Museum Display Cases, and Custom Display Fabrication help bring history to life. Therefore, we approach each project with care, respect, and curiosity. When TBKD recreated one of Nürnberg’s most iconic architectural features, the Chörlein, we embraced both craft and storytelling. As a result, the project honoured the past while making it accessible for today’s audiences.
Originally, the Chörleins stood as ornate oriel windows along the streets of old Nürnberg. Over time, many of these pieces were lost to war and change. However, their story continues to inspire preservation efforts across the city. For this project, we recreated a museum model of the Chörlein at Füll 6. Because only fragments of the original remained, we relied on archival photos to guide our work. In doing so, we carefully reinterpreted historic craftsmanship through modern techniques.

To support exhibition use, we designed the model to be both lightweight and easy to transport. At the same time, we focused on visual accuracy and detail. For example, we chose plaster for its warmth and its ability to capture fine texture. As a result, the surface reflects light in a way that feels authentic and inviting.
The curved façade and wave-shaped gable required close attention at every stage. Therefore, our team sculpted and refined each element with care. As the form took shape, it revealed the balance between art and precision. Because of this process, the final piece feels both historic and alive.
In the end, this project became more than a model. Instead, it acts as a bridge between past and present. Through thoughtful design and skilled making, we created a piece that preserves history while inspiring new connections.
