Custom Stage Fabrication for the ACE Awards
TBKD delivered a comprehensive custom scenic fabrication package for the ACE Awards in Edmonton, creating large-scale custom stage backdrop, custom props, large foam letters, a photo opportunity, custom trophies, and table centrepieces for the event.
The project brought together a wide range of fabrication requirements, from a massive three-dimensional stage backdrop and custom stage props to 120 cast trophies and 45 custom table centrepieces. TBKD managed the fabrication process from prototype development and mould-making through production, finishing, assembly, and installation.

5-Foot Custom Donut Photo Op
The event also featured a five-foot-diameter realistic donut created as a custom photo opportunity. Designed as a large physical prop rather than a conventional printed backdrop, the donut gave guests an oversized dimensional element to interact with and photograph.
The piece demonstrates how custom scenic fabrication can extend beyond the stage itself to create memorable physical moments throughout an event environment.

Custom Event Mascot & Welcome Photo Op
To welcome guests to the ACE Awards, TBKD fabricated a playful, larger-than-life event mascot inspired by the distinctive pyramidal shape of the ACE Awards trophy. The custom character transformed the award’s geometric design into a three-dimensional personality, complete with a smiling face, expressive arms, oversized sneakers and an #OHSHITACE41 pennant flag.
Finished in the event’s vibrant purple and orange colours, the mascot created a recognizable connection between the awards themselves and the guest experience. Positioned at the event entrance, the freestanding mascot served as both a welcoming character and a custom photo opportunity, inviting attendees to capture a memorable moment before entering the celebration.

24-Foot Custom Stage Backdrop & Large Foam Letters
One of the centrepieces of the ACE Awards installation was a massive three-dimensional stage backdrop measuring approximately 24 feet wide by 12 feet high and 2 feet deep. The backdrop featured a dimensional “YES” design and was engineered to hang from the venue’s rigging rather than sit on the stage floor.
The scale and depth of the piece required careful consideration of custom scenic fabrication methods, weight, structural requirements, transportation, and installation. The finished backdrop transformed the stage into a highly dimensional focal point while remaining practical to transport and install within the event environment.
Custom Stage Fabrication for the ACE Awards
Each element was developed with its own fabrication, finishing, transportation, and installation requirements while maintaining a cohesive visual language across the event.
120 Custom Award Trophies
The ACE Awards also required 120 custom pyramidical trophies. TBKD developed the trophy prototype, created the mould, and then cast and finished 120 individual awards for the event.
From the first prototype through mould-making, casting, finishing, and final production, TBKD managed the complete custom scenic fabrication process.
45 Custom Table Centrepieces
The custom scenic fabrication scope continued throughout the event with 45 custom “Y” table centrepieces, one for each table. These smaller dimensional elements carried the event’s visual language into the guest seating areas and complemented the larger stage fabrication.
